The 2018/19 Season of the Premier League kicks-off in less than 20 days. Chelsea Manager Maurizio Sarri has been at the Club for only a week so we can expect a little chaos at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have only signed Jorginho, and with constant rumors linking Belgians, Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard to Madrid are sure to creep doubts in Sarri’s mind. So before predicting Chelsea’s line-up, we need to keep in mind that a lot can change in the coming days.
GK- Thibaut Courtois/ Kasper Schmeichel/ Petr Cech/ Everyone else
— B/R Football (@brfootball) July 17, 2018
This is probably the only position where Maurizio Sarri has no clarity at all. Thibaut Courtois has 12 months left on his Chelsea Contract and is reportedly on his way out of Chelsea. Chelsea are looking for his replacement, and many names have cropped up- Top 5 players that could replace Courtois.
LB- Marcos Alonso
— Marcos Alonso (@marcosalonso03) July 19, 2018
No defender has been involved in more goals in the Premier League (Since 2016) than Marcos Alonso. Chelsea’s flamboyant Left-Back fits Sarri’s style of play perfectly as he prefers to have an attacking Left-Back, similar to Faouzi Ghoulam at Napoli. Alonso is a definite upgrade.
CB- Daniele Rugani (provided he finalizes his move from Juventus)

Rugani is probably the best young defender in Italy and was an integral part of Maurizio Sarri’s defence at Empoli in the 2014/15 campaign. Rugani fits Sarri’s system perfectly and has improved a lot under Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus. According to SportItalia, the move is imminent, and Chelsea are willing to pay a fee in the range of 50 Million Euros.
CB- Andreas Christensen
152 passes completed 🎯
92.2% accuracy ❄️
Andreas Christensen is giving Chelsea a ball-playing glimpse into the future… 💪 pic.twitter.com/2mLXk0pkMa

Rudiger was Chelsea’s best signing last Season, but Andreas Christensen is more suited to Sarri’s style of play. Sarri prefers having ball-playing centre-backs like Kalidou Koulibaly who had a pass accuracy of 91% last Season. If Sarri deploys Christensen at Centre-Back, he is bound to get similar results from the Dane.
RB- Cesar Azpilicueta (c)
The most consistent defender not only at Chelsea but also in the Premier League. Azpilicueta is a class act and will also be named Chelsea Captain in my opinion. Dave, as the Chelsea fans call him, is a versatile defender and should be deployed at Right-Back and fire crosses into Morata’s range.
CDM- Jorginho (Deep-lying Playmaker)
— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) July 14, 2018
Jorginho will be playing right in front of the centre-backs, but it isn’t a typical CDM role. He is a Deep-Lying playmaker and is integral to Sarri’s style of play that sees the ball go from defence to attack in a matter of seconds. The former Napoli player completed 3,197 passes last Season, more than any other player in Europe’s top 5 Leagues.
CDM- N’Golo Kante
N'Golo Kante's incredible rise…
2013: Playing in #FRA third tier
2014: Playing in #FRA second tier
2015: Joins Leicester
2016: #FRA debut, Premier League winner, joins Chelsea
2017: Premier League winner, PFA Player of the Year
2018: FA Cup winner, #WorldCup winner
— Match of the Day (@BBCMOTD) July 15, 2018
The man stopped Leo Messi at the World Cup; You need to play him! Contrary to popular belief, I sincerely believe that Jorginho and Kante can play together. Kante is going to play the role Allan played at Napoli, which is essentially winning the ball in midfield. Something that’s second nature to the Frenchman now. His position will be a little more advanced, but his role would remain the same.
CM- Aleksandr Golovin/ Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Evidently, I and #Chepchugov, former CSKA goalkeeper, have same sources 😃 (moreover with "like" of the player). #Golovin #Chelsea, the mystery thickens: yesterday the strong relaunch of Monaco. Golovin would prefer Chelsea .. But business closing in three: two clubs and player.. pic.twitter.com/iu9Pt7YGbH
— Matteo Pedrosi (@MatteoPedrosi) July 21, 2018
Aleksandr Golovin looked all set to join AS Monaco before former Teammate Chepchugov hinted that the Russian could join Chelsea. Now if Golovin does arrive at Stamford Bridge, that could mean the end of Ruben Loftus Cheek’s Chelsea career. Either way, both RLC, and Golovin would be great additions to Chelsea’s midfield.
LW- Eden Hazard
Interesting that well-connected @libertaddigital now also reporting Real Madrid deal for Eden Hazard this summer will not happen. Key is in club's financial results & the difficulty that presents for them in paying £100m+ fees up front https://t.co/lwzuRkZiC2

Eden Hazard could after-all stay at Chelsea. If the Belgian stays at Stamford Bridge this Season the Blues could very well win the league. Hazard is in the form of his life and with Sarri originating majority of his attacks from the left, Chelsea fans are in for a treat.
ST- Alvaro Morata
Amidst all the Higuain links, I believe that Morata is a better option. Simply because of his age and the fact that he is a very talented player. Sure Morata had an average first Season, but with Sarri he can genuinely improve and take his game to the next level!

Willian is a very underrated player and can shine for Chelsea this Season. The Brazilian had a turbulent relationship with former Manager Antonio Conte but has a chance to rebuild his career at Stamford Bridge. Willian could flourish under Sarri.
