Manchester United have been ‘rebuilding’ under Jose Mourinho for 2 Seasons now. After finishing at second place, 19 points behind Champions Manchester City, Jose Mourinho would be looking to take the Red Devils all the way! Having signed Brazilian Midfielder Fred and Portuguese Full-Back Diogo Dalot, this is how Manchester United could line-up against Leicester on Matchday 1.

GK- David De Gea

After a pathetic World Cup, David De Gea will be looking to return to form for Manchester United. The Spaniard is still the top Goalkeeper in the Premier League and will probably be back to his usual best when United kick-off their Premier League campaign against Leicester on the 11th of August.

LB- Ashley Young

Troll Ashley Young all you want! But the Winger turned Full-Back has been pretty consistent for Manchester United. Young even started a majority of England’s games in the World Cup. At 33 this is probably his last Season at Old Trafford.

CB-  Victor Lindeloff

Lindelof was impressive in the World Cup. With Phil Jones looking nervy and Eric Bailly’s spat with Mourinho, Lindeloff could very well start for United.

CB- Chris Smalling/Phil Jones

Chris Smalling and Phil Jones aren’t exactly your dream Centre-Halfs. The English duo was average at best for United, and If Mourinho can’t bury the hatchet with Bailly or sign a new centre-back, well he’s stuck with this lot.

RB- Antonio Valencia (c)

Antonio Valencia was Manchester United’s best defender last Season. The Ecuadorian has also been named Club captain, after Michael Carrick’s retirement. Valencia will have to lead from the front and make sure his team stays together as a unit.

CDM- Nemanja Matic

Matic and Jose Mourinho make a good team. At Chelsea, the Manager-Player duo genuinely admired each other, and now at Manchester United, they would be looking to replicate what they did at Chelsea by winning the League title.

CM- Fred

The Brazilian was exceptional at Shakhtar Donetsk. His perfect blend of offensive and defensive skills is probably what caught United’s eye. The Brazilian will be looking to find success like compatriot and now City rival Fernandinho.

CAM- Paul Pogba

Pogba is coming off a very Successful World Cup campaign and returns to Old Trafford as a World Champion. If Mourinho has learned anything from Deschamps,  he will give Pogba a more free role. Like Kante and Matuidi, let Fred and Matic focus on the defensive duties and give Pogba a more attacking role

LW- Alexis Sanchez

Sanchez had a below average start to his Manchester United career after moving from Arsenal in January. Now with a new Season and no World Cup involvement, Sanchez will be looking to make a fresh start to his Manchester United career.

ST- Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku was an absolute beast for Belgium and is one of the most improved Strikers in the World. His graph has only gone up since his arrival at Manchester United, and the fans will be hoping the Belgian can progress in the same way.

RW- Marcus Rashford

Manchester United’s Boy Wonder should get a chance to start every game this Season. Probably the best young talent, after Kylian Mbapppe of course. Rashford is destined for greatness, and I have a feeling the 2018/19 Season is going to be a crucial one for him.
