Reports from London suggest that Arsenal have withdrawn their offer of a new contract for Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey. This means that Arsenal’s player of the year from last season will leave the club this January or will leave on a free transfer next season. Arsenal seemed confident that they will agree on fresh terms with the Welshman but sources say that the talks of a new four-year contract have broken down and this have alerted many rival clubs of the midfielder’s availability. Ramsey has been seeking a large pay rise at the club, something that has been influenced by the deal that was offered to Mesut Ozil. Arsenal were initially ready to meet his demands but now believe that they will not be able to pay him the money he will demand in an open market. Ramsey attracted interest from various clubs around the world including a big money move from China in the summer transfer window but decided to stay at Arsenal.

Many doubt his ability to fit into the playing style of Emery and this has certainly played a role in Arsenal deciding to not offer a contract for the midfielder. They would, however, want to cash in on him in January or will have to lose him on a free, come next summer. Ramsey would be a great addition to any top club in the world and would be an absolute bargain to get a man of his caliber on a free. Ramsey is very experienced and would be a great fit for numerous Premier League teams.

As it stands – He will leave on a free this summer!

Ramsey joined the Gunners in the year 2008 for 5 million euros from Cardiff and has been a key figure in their squad ever since, winning three FA Cups with them and scoring the winning goal in two of them. Ramsey will be a definite loss for Arsenal but with a new manager and new ideals, there is a new aura of belief in and around the Emirates.
