Liverpool FC completed the signing of Roma shot-stopper Alisson Becker after he passed his medical and signed a lucrative six-year contract. The Brazil international is now the most expensive goalkeeper in the World. Roma earlier stated that the transfer was worth 75million Euros (£66.8million) but sources at Anfield insisted the transfer fees were £65million with Liverpool further paying depending on champions league qualification and trophies won.

Alisson’s arrival also means the immediate exit of Dany Ward to Leicester City for a fee of £12.5million and the Reds have also negotiated for a sell-on clause of 20%.

Liverpool’s sporting director moved quickly to secure the services of Alisson as Roma’s asking price dropped and the Brazilian made it clear that his heart was set at Anfield. The Red’s had initially moved away from a move after Roma had set the price as high as 90 million.

As Chelsea sat waiting for Courtois to be sold, Liverpool acted swiftly to secure the services of the highly rated Brazilian. Monchi made it clear that Roma felt short-changed after they sold Mohammed Salah to Liverpool on the cheap. The Egyptian winger went on to muster 44 goals in a record-breaking debut campaign. But Liverpool were not prepared to go beyond 65 million and an agreement was finally reached at the end of negotiations.

Alisson who cut short his holidays to complete the formalities of a transfer will join the squad after Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the USA. He will meet with the squad in France as Liverpool travel for a four-day training camp before the season. Alisson is also expected to be Klopp’s last signing after that of Keita, Fabinho, and Shaqiri.

Alisson might just be the solution for Liverpool’s goalkeeping curse and even though his abilities can’t be questioned, the answer to that will only be got come to the end of the season.
