Sevilla have completed the signing of Portuguese striker Andre Silva from AC Milan in a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Sevilla published a statement on their website saying that the deal was done, adding that the loan move would have an option to make Andre Silva‘s move a permanent one.

A statement in the club’s official website read: “Sevilla FC and AC Milan have reached an agreement for the loan, with an option to buy, of André Silva, subject to the passing of a medical. “

Sevilla boss Pablo Manchin heaped praise on the young striker joins on loan from AC Milan.

Machin said: “Andre Silva is a great signing. A young player whom Milan made a big investment on, he is also a Portuguese international. He has chosen us despite having other offers and the fact that Milan wanted to keep him.”

Andre Silva first made his breakthrough with Porto in the 16/17 season when he scored 16 goals in 32 league matches. He would go on to register 24 goals in 58 matches for the club.

The striker then joined AC Milan in 2017 after his brilliant performance in Portugal. For the Serie A side, despite not being the starting striker as much as he’d like, he still managed to register 10 goals in just 18 starts. Now with the signing of Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus earlier this summer, Andre Silva would have possibly been pushed down the pecking order in AC Milan.

The 22-year-old made his international debut for Portugal in 2016 and has since become a key player for the national team, scoring 12 goals in 26 appearances, also participating in the Portuguese squad for the World Cup this year.

The Portuguese international took to Instagram to thank the fans of AC Milan.

His post read: “I wanted to thank everyone for support this year! Thank you ac Milan!! Ready for the next step”

Andre Silva becomes the club’s 7th signing of the summer after the arrivals of Ibrahim Amadou, Joris Gnagnon, Aleix Vidal, Tomas Vaclik, Roque Mesa and Sergi Gomez.
