Arsenal 3 – 2 Cardiff City, Highlight | Premier League 2018/19

Arsenal got their second win of the Premier League season with a 3-2 victory over home side Cardiff City on Saturday.

Emery started Aubameyang, Lacazette and Mesut Ozil together for the first time, with Ozil returning after a sickness last week, Henrikh Mkhitaryan starting on the bench and Alex Iwobi ill and out of the matchday squad.

Arsenal opened the scoring with a goal from Shkodran Mustafi at the 11th minute, who headed a goal from almost 10 yards from Granit Xhaka’s corner kick.

Cardiff who had failed to score a goal this season, finally did so in the first-half added time when Victor Camarasa found a way to score at the 47th minute. Xhaka’s poor cross ball was secured in midfield by Junior Hoilett, whose pass allowed Joe Bennett to set up Camarasa from 12 yards.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang restored Arsenal’s lead in the 62nd minute, scoring his first goal of the season after Alexandre Lacazette set it up off for his teammate. But Cardiff responded again, this time eight minutes later in the 70th minute when Sean Morrison headed Joe Ralls‘ free-kick back across goal to Danny Ward, who directed it with his head off the left post.

Lacazette, who had earlier set up Aubameyang’s goal, restored Arsenal’s lead in the 81st minute when he latched onto substitute Lucas Torreira’s pass and fired past Sol Bamba and goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, leaving the only goalkeeper nominee for the Premier League player of the month award.

Cardiff will lament the fact they failed to take advantage of three blunders made by Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech including one in the 1st minute of each half and another in the 8th minute when Harry Arter shot over the crossbar after Cech tried to pass the ball to Matteo Guendouzi.

Arsenal face Newcastle in the next Premier League match next Saturday, 15th September after the international break.
