Atletico Madrid’s new midfield recruit, Rodri has said that Atletico Madrid have the best Squad in the La Liga. Now before you rubbish his claims, hear me out. Atletico Madrid are genuine dark horses this Season and can go on to win the La Liga and the Champions League this Season. So let’s have a look at what makes them tick and why Europe’s elite should be wary of this sleeping giant.

Atletico Madrid’s Culture

They aren’t flashy, they don’t spend the big bucks and don’t have players who showcase the best skills. But what they do have is hard working players, the players have put in the hard yards together and have now become World Class. The Club’s culture has ingrained these qualities in them, persistence and dedication has made this team what it is. Atletico have a never say die attitude that has always helped them rise from the ashes and let’s be honest you need to be insanely hard working to compete against the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Squad Depth

Atletico Madrid have always had quality players in some departments but this time around the Los Rojiblancos are looking threatening from defence to attack.

Check out who makes our Atletico Madrid Predicted XI

They have some quality experienced players at the wide-back positions with Juanfran and Felipe Luis. Vrsajliko and Lucas Hernandez can also fill those positions and are coming off excellent performances in the World Cup, Vrsajliko is expected to leave the club on Loan to Inter but Diego Simeone has found an able replacement in Arias. At Centre-Back they have Diego Godin who is easily one of the best Centre-Backs in the World and would be accompanied by able Compatriot Jose Maria Giminez. Atletico have Stefan Savic in their ranks as well, and Lucas Hernandez’s Versatility gives Diego Simeone to deploy him as a center-half as well. Jan Oblak is more than capable of making sure no one gets on the scoresheet.

The Spanish Central Midfield duo of Koke and Saul is slowly establishing itself as one of the most potent Midfield duos in the World. New signing Rodri and Thomas Partey are excellent options for holding midfielders and give Diego Simeone plenty of options.

Here’s where things get interesting. Antoine Griezmann, Diego Costa, Thomas Lemar, Gelson Martins, Luciano Vietto, Vitolo, Angel Correa and Kevin Gameiro. Attacking riches is an understatement. Griezmann, Costa, and Lemar are favorites to start, but with so many options available to Diego Simeone, Atletico looks immensely threatening in attack.

Atletico Madrid have all the bases covered and look all set to take the World by a storm. Remember, if they win the Champions League and the La Liga, you read it here first!
