Mithali Raj, aged 35, is the captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team in Tests and ODI. She led her team to victory in the third and final match of the One Day International at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur against England, with her fifty-sixth 50 in the ODI.

She’s the first player to have scored seven consecutive 50s in ODI and now, she has added yet another record in her long list of successful feats by breaking the initial record of fifty-five 50s (by Charlotte Edwards) in ODIs.

They clinched the series with a score of 2-1. India won the first game beating England by one wicket, which was immediately leveled out with their loss in the second game by eight wickets. However, they took back the winning stand in the finals, thrashing England. With 201 to chase, India won by 8 wickets in 45 overs.

Mithali opened the game and remained on the field till the end, defending her team with a score of 74 off 124 balls. She was supported by Deepti Sharma (54-not out) and Smriti Mandhana (53-retired due to injury).
