The 33-year old Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo is not new to a legal proceeding. Months after admitting to tax fraud in Spain, the Portuguese star is under the scanner for a nine-year-old case.
Las Vegas is at the center of the sexual assault against one of World’s top athlete. According to a lawsuit filed in a court at Nevada, Cristiano Ronaldo sexually assaulted a 25-year-old woman. The incident happened at Palms Casino Resort in June 2009, at the infamous Las Vegas.
The 34-year-old woman, who has been identified as Kathryn Mayorga has asserted that the athlete raped her, with proofs floating around the internet. An explosive and detailed allegation was published in the German publication Der Spiegel last week.
“The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call of a sexual assault on 13 June 2009,” the department wrote in an email to the Guardian. “At the time the report was taken, the victim did not provide detectives with the location of the incident or suspect description. A medical exam was conducted.
Further, the Guardian added ” As of September 2018, the case has been reopened and our detectives are following up on information being provided by the victim. This is an ongoing investigation and no further details will be released at this time.”

Mayorga’s lawsuit was filed in the court on the 27th September, at Clark County District. In total, there are around 11 claims which are included in the complaint filed by the 34-year-old. Amongst the others, Mayorga has filed for battery, abuse of a vulnerable person and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The complicated case has seen several turns and twists since the time it has hit the news. One of Ronaldo’s key defenses will be that Mayorga contractually relinquished her claims as part of a settlement and non-disclosure agreement. Mayorga, on the other hand, has to convince the officials that invalidate the agreement.
Der Spiegel’s investigative report contains each and every aspect of the case, which in itself is complicated in several lines. As per the reports, Mayorga and a female friend conversed with Ronaldo at the Rain Nightclub in the Palms on the evening of Friday, June 12, 2009.
While in the suite, Ronaldo invited everyone to join him in the balcony’s hot tub. The reports went on to add that Mayorga declined, explaining to Ronaldo that she lacked a bathing suit. Ronaldo offered athletic shorts and a T-shirt to Mayorga. The event happened when she proceeded to change the clothes in the bathroom.
The reports went on to add, ” Ronaldo allegedly exposed himself and went on to forcefully sodomize her, while, Mayorga insists, she repeatedly yelled “no, no, no” at him.”
Further, it is to be seen if the court takes up the matter with the off-the-court settlement agreement in place.
