Manchester United and Spain Goalkeeper David De Gea turns 28 today! De Gea has bailed United out of some truly tough situations with his outstanding saves over the Years, so let’s have a recap!

In September this Year, Watford Goalkeeper, Ben Foster called David De Gea “The Messi of Goalkeepers”, and we couldn’t agree more! So here’s a look at Birthday Boy David De Gea’s best saves in Manchester United Sirt.

5. Crystal Palace 14/15 Season, Glenn Murray

One of the earlier great saves made by De Gea. The Spaniard was in a dangerous one-on-one situation with then Crystal Palace Striker Glenn Murray. Murray received the ball inside the box hardly 10 yards away from De Gea, and the Striker tried to tuck the ball away to De Gea’s right, the United keeper responded by making an outrageous save stretching his right arm to the fullest and denying Palace a much-needed goal.

4. Chelsea 11/12, Juan Mata

This save, as De Gea himself said, is a career turning point in De Gea’s not only at Manchester United but as a Goalkeeper in General. David De Gea was considered a talented Goalkeeper who had great potential way back in his first Season at Manchester United. Juan Mata won a free-kick just outside the box and having already scored from a similar position everyone backed Mata to slot it in for Chelsea. The ball was all set to fly into the top corner, but the scrawny Spanish Youngster made a perfectly timed dive to deny his compatriot and now Man United teammate Juan Mata. You can say that this save set the ball rolling for De Gea.

3. Arsenal 17/18, Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez

An absolutely exquisite save or should I say saves from David De Gea. Arsenal was playing some free-flowing football, and new signing Alexandre Lacazette was banging goals in for fun during his first few months in an Arsenal shirt. Lacazette got an amazing Chance to score for the Gunners but was denied by De Gea. On the rebound, Alexis Sanchez had a close-range tap-in chance but was denied yet again by the Spaniard’s outstretched foot. Brilliant Stuff.

2. Stoke 17/18, Jese

A truly excellent save! Jese Rodriguez received a cross in from the left and with a close-range first-touch poke that had a little swirl to it. It looked all set to go in, but David De Gea yet again pulled a save from the top drawer. Sensational!

1. Liverpool 16/17, Philippe Coutinho

Drum roll… The Number One save by, De Gea was against Liverpool in the 16/17 Season denying Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian plays for Barcelona now and has always had a reputation for scoring long-range curlers that make your jaw drop. But there is no going past David De Gea! Coutinho Curled to ball from long range as the ball swirled looking set for a top-bin finish but United’s trusted custodian makes another sensational save. He truly is World Class!
