Delhi Capitals has come forward to show respect to the martyrs in Pulwama attack. Since the terror attack took place on February 14, the whole nation is in shock. 


From common people to celebrities, all are trying to be with the families who lost their dear ones. Fraternities from the Indian cricket circuit is not far behind. Many have condemned the act and showered help for them. Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) is the new name to join the queue.

The Backstory

On February 14, Thursday 40 Indian soldiers martyred in a terror attack in Pulwama district of South Kashmir. A suicide bomber with a vehicle full of explosives attacked the army men. Most of the soldiers were returning from their leaves to resume duties. The attack shook the nation. Everyone since then is trying the best to support those families.

Delhi Capitals, earlier known as Delhi Daredevils have taken to their social media page to announce help for the martyrs’ families. According to the announcement by Delhi Capitals, the team will donate the earnings from its first game this IPL season to the martyrs’ families. It has also appealed to all on its social media handle to the families. Irrespective of the quantity, it requested all to extend solidarity to those who lost their dear ones in the tragic incident.

Delhi Capitals In IPL 2019

Since the inception of IPL in 2008, Delhi Capitals have been one of the under-achievers. The last time they made the last-four stage of the tournament was in 2012. With the local by Shikhar Dhawa back in the squad, it will be led by Shreyas Iyer. Shikhar Dhawa has also come forward with help for the Pulwana martyrs.

With a high profile team full of stars and a coach like Ricky Ponting, Delhi Capitals will try to change their IPL fortune this time. Earlier the change of players and captains has not helped much. But Delhi Capitals will look for a better tournament this time with the new name hoping to bring some luck.
