IPL 2018 | DD vs KXIP | Match 22: For the second time this season, Delhi Daredevils will be playing against Kings XI Punjab at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi at 20:00 IST tonight – hopefully not with the same results.

With DD at the bottom of the table and KXIP on top, DD has a mammoth task laid out for them to reach KXIP’s level.

DD has had the worst bowling record of all teams, combine that with inconsistent batting performances and you’ve got yourself a recipe for disaster. Led by Gautam Gambhir who has carried his previous team Kolkata Knight Riders to victory more than once, has been unable to do the same with DD. With only one win of five, DD needs to get back in shape.

KXIP, on the other hand, has remained on top with four out of five wins under the skilled captaincy of Ravichandran Ashwin. With high scoring batsmen like Chris Gayle and Lokesh Rahul and spinner wicket-takers like Mujeeb, Andrew Tye, and Barinder Sran, KXIP has established its position this season.

DD’s controversial Mohammed Shami’s absence has been another negative factor for the team. Hopefully, his return may give them a surprise factor against KXIP. Trent Boult has performed pretty decently as opposed to Shahbaz Nadeem. The team has an assorted group of all-rounders who have not been put to proper use as of yet, a mistake on Gambhir’s part.

DD’s batting line-up may not see major changes except for the replacement of Vijay Shankar who has been given ample opportunity to prove himself and has failed to do so.

Rishabh Pant has been DD’s highest scorer this season and hopefully, with proper coordination with Gambhir, Shreyas Iyer, and Glenn Maxwell, the four can form a wall that can match up to the Gayle-Rahul storm. The factor of this being their first home game should give them the hope and zeal to pull out guns blazing against KXIP tonight.

KXIP’s tested and tried line-up against KKR may remain the same if Axar Patel decides to be a no-show tonight. Yuvraj Singh would hope to redeem himself tonight as he hasn’t made any significant impact as of yet.

A game that will decide DD’s fate this season, it will definitely be a treat to watch.
