As a preparation to the limited overs series against West Indies and the upcoming tour of Australia in November, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are set to play the quarterfinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
MS Dhoni will play for Jharkhand –
The former Indian captain will represent Jharkhand in this domestic season in the quarterfinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Dhoni has not been amongst the runs. His slump in form is India’s biggest worry at the moment. Dhoni should apply himself more with the bat as his glove work behind the stumps is unquestionable. MSD is still lighting fast behind the stumps.
Dhoni didn’t use the limited opportunities well in the Asia cup. He played decently against Bangladesh on two occasions but he didn’t guide his team through the run chase. India needs MSD as a batsman for Australia limited over series and also for the World Cup 2019 in England. His presence will certainly boost the confidence of this young team.
Dhoni is also needed for the inputs he provides behind the stumps and for the DRS as well. Everyone knows how Dhoni is accurate with the referral system. He hardly gets that wrong. MSD has a lot of experience, the young Indian team should make use of that. It is very good to see Dhoni playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy. That helped him to recover from the slump.
Rohit Sharma will play for Mumbai –
Rohit Sharma has been in blazing form. He did well in the Asia Cup. Now Rohit Sharma will aim to do well for his domestic side as he had been doing for India. Rohit is also a key member for India at the opening position.
Rohit is also a key member for India at the opening position. Hit Man will want to continue his good form in this domestic match and the series to come. It is important for Rohit to be in good touch and not to get rusty.
With the series against West Indies and the Australian tour coming up, Rohit Sharma’s batting form will be vital for India.
Both the players couldn’t play the league games because they were busy playing the Asia Cup in Dubai.
The selectors have named MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma for the first 2 ODIs against West Indies.
So this would be an ideal preparation for both of them.
