The England tour of Sri Lanka starts today, at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. The two teams will play each other in the first of the scheduled five ODIs, starting on October 10 and ends on October 23. Dinesh Chandimal will lead the home side with Angelo Matthew’s absence since the Asia Cup. Angelo Matthews was axed from captaincy and entirely from the squad after the Asia Cup, among concerns over his fitness and running between the wickets.

Ben Stokes and Alex Hales were included in England’s one-day 16-man squad to tour Sri Lanka, after being charged with bringing the game into disrepute for the incident outside a Bristol nightclub last September. England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes was found not guilty in August this year, while Alex Hales was not charged. The independent Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) hearing will be held on 5 and 7 December. Meanwhile, they could make their ODI comeback for England in today’s ODI match.
England would want to play both spinners, Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid. While the former is a regular all-rounder option, Rashid would be integral in the spinner-friendly pitches of Sri Lanka.
