Chelsea Youngster and Welsh International Ethan Ampadu has signed a Five-Year Contract extension with the West London Club. The Versatile Welshman just turned 18 this month but surprisingly has the composure and Maturity of a seasoned player. Ampadu will be a key player for Chelsea in the future and it’s good to see the Club tying their Youth down to new contracts rather than selling them to rivaling Premier League Clubs like in the case of Dominic Solanke to Liverpool or Nathaniel Chalobah to Watford.

Ampadu signed from Exeter City in July 2017 and quickly rose through the Youth ranks at West London. Ampadu’s versatility is what makes him special as he’s comfortable playing at both Centre-Back and Central Midfield. He made his Senior Club debut in a League Cup game against Nottingham Forrest when he came on as a Substitute for Cesc Fabregas in the Second half. The then 17-Year-Old became the first Chelsea player to be born in the 21st Century and the Welsh National went on to even make his Premier League debut against Huddersfield in December.
Ampadu was delighted upon signing a Contract extension with Chelsea, “I’m really proud and happy, I’m looking forward to the next five years and all I have got to do now is continue to work hard, and hopefully good things will happen.”
Good things seem to happen already for Ampadu as he was selected ahead of Premier League winning Midfielder and 30 Million Pound signing, Danny Drinkwater for Chelsea’s Europa League trip to Greece. Though Ampadu didn’t make the Bench for the win against PAOK, he’s still held in high regard by Manager Maurizio Sarri.
Ethan Ampadu is already a full-fledged International Player for the Welsh team and has made 4 appearances for his Country. The Youngster was particularly impressive in a 4-1 win against the Republic of Ireland, finishing with 2 assists. Ampadu is definitely a player to watch out for and Hopefully Chelsea can groom him into the great player we all know he can be.
