England VS Columbia, Kick Off Time: 11:30 pm (IST)

After England lost to Belgium, The three lions face Columbia in the round of 16. After Southgate’s second squad failed to impress against The Belgians, he will expect his big guns to fire them to a victory against Columbia. The Columbians, on the other hand, are coming after a victory against Senegal in their final group game where defender Yerri Mina scored the winning goal after a corner. This would be a mouth-watering match as both the teams look to be in exceptional form and will look to outscore each other in what promises to be one hell of a match.

Team News:
England played a new look squad against Belgium, with John Stones and Jordan Pickford the only ones who were retained from their previous squad. Stones was taken off at halftime in the game but is expected to be fit in time for their crucial game. Trippier is also said to have a slight niggle on his ankle but it wouldn’t be a loss for England if he doesn’t play. Trent Alexander Arnold has shown what he is capable off and that he is more than capable to step in when he is needed to.

Columbia’s victory against Senegal was made less joyous when the 2014 golden boot winner James Rodriguez left the pitch before halftime. He will not feature in the knockout stages and this would undoubtedly the biggest loss for the Columbians. The team led by Falcao showed that they are more than capable of coping without their star man and they will yet again look to Falcao and their defensive duo of Davison Sanchez and Yerri Mina to deliver.

Form Guide-
England: W | W | W | W | L
Columbia: D | D | L | W | W

Prediction: England 2 Columbia 1: Kane and his men look fresh as ever and with no pressure on them to go far in the competition they look like the team to beat. This team looks more of a unit than all the England teams in the past 30 years and Columbia will have to play the match of their lives if they are to upset this English team when they are in full flow. The Columbians are built on their defensive strength while the Three Lions are a more attack minded. If Columbia is to beat them, they will have to outscore them which looks highly unlikely.
