The quarter-finals of the World Cup provided to be quite a thriller for the fans. There were plenty of outstanding performers in the matches, but only one is declared the BudweiserTM Man of the Match.

BELGIUM vs BRAZIL – Kevin De Bruyne (BRAZIL) 

Kevin De Bruyne has been crucial to Belgium’s success in the World Cup. The Manchester City playmaker has played in 4 matches for the Red Devils and registered a goal and an assist in the process.

The 27-year old midfielder was particularly brilliant as Belgium sent the Brazilians packing. De Bruyne registered 3 shots, 33 accurate passes, 2 crosses, 3 key passes and 52 touches in the game. More importantly, he was the scorer of the magnificent goal from outside the box which eventually ended up being the winner as the match ended 2-1 to Belgium’s favor. A remarkable performance from a remarkable player and a deserving recipient of the BudweiserTM Man of the Match award.

ENGLAND vs SWEDEN – Jordan Pickford (ENGLAND) 

At the age of just 24, Jordan Pickford has cemented himself as the no.1 for the Three Lions, playing in every game of the tournament so far. The Everton stopper has been the difference in many a game for England and will hope that he can lift the cup this year.

He was especially outstanding against Sweden where he made 3 brilliant saves, 20 passes, 10 long balls, and 42 touches in the 90 minutes of the game. Pickford was the difference in this match and deemed worthy of the BudweiserTM Man of the Match award


The Croatian skipper stepped up for his country in this World Cup. The Real Madrid playmaker has registered 2 goals and an assist in his 5 appearances in the World Cup. Modric has already received 3 MOTM awards, the most received by any player in this World Cup.

The skipper registered 3 shots, 89 passes, 10 crosses, 16 long balls, 4 key passes, 139 touches, 8 dribbles, and 2 tackles in the game. On top of that, he also provided a vital assist to give his team the lead in extra-time. The numbers are clearly in his favor, another deserved BudweiserTM Man of the Match award to his tally.
