The 2018 FIFA World Cup has come to an end, and after 30 days of top-class Football, France hasย emerged as World Champions. Les Blues were exceptional in the tournament, but there were a number of individual performances that caught our eye and made the 2018ย FIFA World Cup Team of the Tournament.

GK- Hugo Lloris (France)

In Goal, we have Tottenham and French captain Hugo Lloris. The French shot-stopper has made some key saves in the knockout stages and has led his Country from the front. He edges past Golden Glove recipient Thibaut Courtois by a whisker.

CB- Raphael Varane (France)

France like most World Cup winners has had a very well organized backline, and Raphael Varane has been the fulcrum of this defence. Varane made more clearances than any other player in the World Cup (44).

CB- Diego Godin (Uruguay)

The Uruguay captainย led his team to the Quarter-Finals and was the architect behind Uruguay’s defence that didn’t concede any goals in the Group Stage.

CB-ย Domagoj Vida (Croatia)

One of the finds of the World Cup! Vida has been consistent and reliable for Croatia and is even linked to a move to Liverpool. Gotta Love the World Cup!

CDM- N’Golo Kante (France)

Kante is exceptional, and Kante is everywhere! The Frenchman’s meteoric rise is inspiring, and Chelsea will have to hold on to him tight, very tight.

CM- Luka Modric (Croatia)

The Golden Ball winner has to make this XI. Modric is probably the best Midfielder in the World and Croatia’s dream run wouldn’t have been possible without the Real Madrid Midfielder.ย

LM- Eden Hazard (Belgium)

Eden Hazard, Chelsea’s talisman was Belgium’s best player in Russia and has caught the World’s attention with his performances.

RM-ย Ivan Perisic (Croatia)

Perisic scored in the World Cup Final and Semi-Final and the Inter player has shown his class and consistency in the moments that matter.

LW- Antoine Griezmann (France)

Griezmann has been France’s playmaker, Goalscorer and key player. Atletico Madrid has done well to tie the Frenchman down to a new contract.

ST- Harry Kane (England)

King Kane has proven his worth at the World stage and the English Captain’s performance gave the Three Lions’ fans hope. It may not have come home but Kane and Co. made a country believe.

RW- Kylian Mbappe (France)

19-Years-old and scores in a World Cup Final, Kylian Mbappe has gone from strength-to-strength. Big things are expected from the youngster and the way things are going, it doesn’t look like he’ll be disappointing anyone.
