Manchester City has been relatively quiet this Transfer Season having signed only Riyad Mahrez and French youngster Claudio Gomes. But Manchester City has extended Brazilian Forward, Gabriel Jesus’s contract and the Forward will now stay at the Etihad Stadium till June 2023. Tying down your key players to long-term deals in modern day Football has become as essential as buying new players to avoid situations similar to that of Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez.

The Brazilan returned to training on Tuesday after enjoying an extended holiday following Brazil’s Quarter-Final exit in the 2018 Russia  World Cup. Gabriel Jesus failed to find the back of the net in Russia as Brazil were knocked out by Belgium in the quarter-finals. The 21-Year-old did score 13 times in the Premier League last season as Manchester City went on to Comfortably Lift the Premier League title.

Gabriel Jesus’s Humble beginnings- Gabriel Jesus, Slumdog to Millionaire

Guardiola’s take on Jesus

Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola praised Gabriel Jesus immensely when asked about the Brazilian’s contract extension ahead of City’s FA Community Shield clash against Chelsea “I think the strategy from the club is perfect. We cannot allow Gabriel to go out for another club because he is so young. His heart, his courage, his fight to put in every effort for the team is incredible.”

Guardiola further added “I never met one striker who fights like he does for the team. He always wants to know what he can do better and that is fantastic.”

What can we expect from Jesus?

Jesus made 53 appearances for the “Cityzens” scoring 24 times since arriving from Palmeiras in January 2017. City paid £27 Million for the Brazilian which is a bargain in the current Market. Extending Jesus’s stay at City will benefit the Club immensely considering Jesus is only 21-Years-old and has entered the prime years of his career. The Brazilian is sure to make his mark in World Football.
