Spanish club Valencia have agreed a 36 million pound deal with Paris St Germain for the Portuguese winger Goncalo Guedes. The 21-year-old spent his 2017-18 season at loan with Los Che, where he impressed the manager as well as the fans.

Guedes joined the Ligue 1 giants in January 2017, before he made a move to Valencia in the span of eight months. Since then, there has been no looking back for the winger, who has scored the important goals for Los Che.

Valencia said on the club’s website: “Valencia CF have reached an agreement on Monday with Paris Saint-Germain FC for the definitive transfer of Portuguese international Gonçalo Guedes, who will travel to Valencia on Tuesday to sign his contract as a new Valencia CF player.”

Under the leadership of Marcelinho, the winger had the best season of his career. At Mestalla, the 21-year-old has scored five goals in the league with as many as 11 assists.

A disappointing World Cup for Guedes:

After the season, the winger was called up to the Portugal National squad for the 2018 World Cup. Despite starting three games for Portugal, the winger could not score. The winger starred in the tournament, despite not scoring in the tournament.

During his time at Mestalla, the Portuguese were a phenomenon in Valencia’s surge during the first half of La Liga.

However, since then neither could Valencia nor could Guedes maintain the form that would have helped them make a surge for the league. Guedes, however, was successful in helping the club reach the Champions League.

Guedes will become Valencia’s 10th major signing of the summer, with Marcelino building a super strong team for the league. Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi moving across to play for Valencia alongside Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro.

On the other hand, Colombia defender Jeison Murillo moved across from Inter Milan to Mestalla during the summer. It would be interesting to see how things pan out for Valencia this season.
