IPL Match 41, Pre Match Analysis: KKR to face a refreshed MI1 min read

KKR VS MI

IPL 2018 | Match 41 | KKR vs MI: The Kolkata Knight Riders are to go up against the Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens tonight at 20:00 IST. MI is back in the game with their last three victories and stands at the fifth position while KKR is placed fourth.

The Mumbai Indians defeated KKR only a few days back at their home base and will look to repeat the performance. This is an important match for the Rohit Sharma-led side as it is necessary for them to win all four of the remaining matches to make it to the playoffs.

Suryakumar Yadav has proved to be a trustworthy opener for the MI with a total of 399 runs in ten matches and will hope to continue his form. He scored a half-century in the match against KKR four days ago and will be considered a threat by the opponents. Evin Lewis, as always, will most probably open with Yadav although he still hasn’t provided any significant contribution as of yet. Ishan Kishan has had rocky progress this season and has been pushed down the line, he will look to rising up the ranks. Captain Rohit Sharma has placed his team before him as he stands in the middle order, he will wish to play to his potential tonight as well in this crucial encounter.

Jasprit Bumrah will lead the bowling front with the all-rounder Pandya brothers, Mitchell McClenaghan and Mayank Markande, as always.

KKR has had to shift the Sunil Narine’s position in the line-up due to his health issues. Chris Lynn will wish to come back to form after his injured shoulder.

“I was probably a little bit nervous and apprehensive early on. Of late, I can bat with freedom,” said Lynn.

He also added, “There is tension out there in the middle because of the rivalry we have built over the years. They got the better of us in Mumbai and we would definitely be looking to get one back,” he added.

KKR’s batting side has stars like captain Dinesh Karthik, Robin Uthappa, and Nitish Rana. In the bowling area, the team will go with the regulars – Narine, Piyush Chawla.

Will KKR be able to break MI’s confidence?
