The Mumbai Indians take on a new look and a new named Delhi outfit. The Delhi Capitals will be taking on IPL giants Mumbai Indians and both sides will be hoping their big-ticket players come good.

Mumbai Indians have the tendency to start slow and a fun fact is that in each of their 2013, 2015 and 2017 IPL victories they lost their opening games. The Delhi Capitals haven’t seen any positives in the IPL over the last few years hence the change in name from the Delhi Daredevils to the Delhi Capitals is their hope of getting a fresh start. Here are a few battles to look forward to when Delhi Capitals take on the Mumbai Indians.

Pandya Brothers vs Axar Patel: The Gujurati All-rounder battle

All-rounders are worth their weight in Gold in the T20 format and there will be three from Gujarat on show tonight. Axar Patel from Delhi Capitals will be going up against Mumbai Indians regulars Hardik and Krunal Pandya. Patel has been successful in the IPL with both bat and ball with the Kings XI Punjab while the Pandya brothers have been a crucial part of the Mumbai Indians over the last few Seasons. This Gujarati face-off will be interesting to see because on days when a side’s all-rounders click in both departments you are likely to end up on the winning side. Patel will be hoping to justify his while Hardik and Krunal will be looking to excel in their respective off-spin and Medium pace departments while pitching in with the bat as well.

Delhi capitals vs Mumbai Indians: The mentality

All battles aside both teams need to fight the stereotypes that have been formed against them. The Mumbai Indians will be expected losers today with their slow starter tag and the management along with captain Rohit Sharma will want to start strong in order to not get typecast.

While the Delhi Capitals will be hoping to not only change their name but change the perception that they as a team are pushovers and are perennial underperformers. The mentality of both sides is what will define the outcome of the game. On one hand, we have the Mumbai Indians tree-time IPL Champions, brilliant fan base but they will be under the pump to start well. On the other side, we have Delhi Capitals who will be looking to start afresh and leave no signs of their Delhi Daredevil days in their performances. This would be their biggest battle.
