While the Sunrisers and the Punjab team have similar records so far in the five matches they have played, having won three and lost two, the Hyderabad side finds themselves placed at No. 3 spot, while Punjab stooped down to No.6 in the IPL 2019 points table. Additionally, when we look at the SRH vs KXIP head-to-head IPL record – it is the Sunrisers who have an edge over the Mohali-based franchise. Out of the total 12 games played against each other, KXIP have managed to win just three while SRH have won nine. At the PCA stadium, the home ground of the KXIP, the home team have just one win in five head to head games against the Sunrisers.
MS Dhoni’s brilliance in the fixture that Punjab had against the defending champions, had resulted in a 22-run defeat for the KXIP team. Whereas the buoyant Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a 40-run loss against the Mumbai Indians in their previous fixture. Their performance was horrible as they were bowled inside the 100-run mark, their first time in this IPL season. However, they have a good record against Punjab and also their form in this edition of the marquee T20 league is a great backing to their advantage.
As the two teams battle it out to up their game in this IPL season, here let’s take a look at the key player battles from the night.
Chris Gayle vs Bhuvaneshwar Kumar
While Sarfaraz Khan and KL Rahul, who scored 67 runs from 59 balls and 55 off 47 respectively, in the last game, shared a 100+ partnership between them against the Chennai Super Kings but fell short in terms of strike rate. Meanwhile, Chris Gayle looked out of touch. But as we all know the “Universe Boss” wouldn’t hold back and since he didn’t contribute much against CSK, chances are SRH will face his wrath tonight. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who leads the pace attack, could prove to be the Sunrisers’ key to remove the giant early in the game.

SRH openers vs Sam Curran
The SRH have their key in their openers, who have scored huge in this season and have much more in store. Together David Warner and Jonny Bairstow have recorded the best opening partnerships in the 12th edition of the IPL so far. No wonder the SRH team has looked so formidable this season. In order to stop them the Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin will use Sam Curran, who proved to be the team’s best bowler in their previous fixture at Mohali. and he is expected to pose a major threat here again.
