The Defending Champions, Chennai Super Kings have expectedly Retained Majority of their squad barring Uncapped Players Kanishk Seth, Kshitiz Sharma, and England International Mark Wood. CSK have 8 overseas players in their squad and can only add 2 Indian Players to their Squad. Given the experience and Balance of their Squad Coach Stephen Fleming and Captain MS Dhoni won’t Be looking to add too much. The Chennai outfit should though, Look for some bankable experienced Indian Fast Bowlers to accompany the likes of Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur.

The Tinkermen of the IPL, Delhi Daredevils have an uncanny habit of pushing the reset button too often and then go all out in the auction only to produce below average performances in the Tournament. This time around DD have retained a core of 15 Players and also have a huge “Dilli Ka Launda” joining their camp, no it isn’t Gautam Gambhir, It’s Shikhar Dhawan who’s coming back home! DD need to make sure they don’t go overboard in the Auction and flood themselves with options, they need to go in with a set plan and will need to sort out their Overseas player problem as they never seem to get the combination right.
Retained Squad: Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, Manjot Kalra, Colin Munro, Chris Morris, Jayant Yadav, Rahul Tewatia, Harshal Patel, Amit Mishra, Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult, Sandeep Lamichhane, Avesh Khan

Overseas Slots- 3
Remaining Purse- ₹25.50 Crore
The Punjab outfit is another Franchise that has gone through constant chopping and changing over the Years and barring the 2014 Season, KXIP have failed to really capitalize on a usually explosive squad. Notable released players like Axar Patel who has been a mainstay for the side, Australian opener Aaron Finch and Son of the soil Yuvraj Singh have come as a shock for a few. Punjab do have a very good Indian Batting core but lack a finisher in the Middle-order as well as an Indian Fast bowler who can swing the ball up front. Otherwise, they seem to have most bases covered. Indian Middle order Batsman, Mandeep Singh has also been brought in from RCB with Marcus Stoinis going the other way.
Retained Squad: Lokesh Rahul, Chris Gayle, Andrew Tye, Mayank Agarwal, Mandeep Singh, Ankit Rajpoot, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Karun Nair, David Miller, and Ravichandran Ashwin
Kolkata Knight Riders |
No of players retained- 13
Players Released- Mitchell Starc (Overseas), Mitchell Johnson (Overseas), Tom Curran (Overseas), Cameron Delport (Overseas), Javon Searles (Overseas), Ishank Jaggi, Apoorv Wankhade, Vinay Kumar
Available Slots- 12
Overseas Slots- 5
Remaining Purse- ₹15.20 Crore
The Kolkata Knight Riders will be looking to get some backups into their Slim Squad with a meager 15.20 Crore. KKR had a very slim squad of 19 Players last Season of IPL and will be hoping to rectify that. The Released players seem all justified as a lot of them put in poor performances Last Season, Barring Mitchell Starc, who was probably let go because of his hefty price tag (9.40 Crore). KKR have young talented Fast bowlers in Prasidh Krishna, Shivam Mavi, and Kamlesh Nagarkoti but lack some experienced Fast Bowlers who can lead the attack.
Retained Squad: Dinesh Karthik, Robin Uthappa, Chris Lynn, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Shivam Mavi, Kuldeep Yadav, Piyush Chawla, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Prasidh Krishna
