RR vs KKR
April 07, 8.00PM IST
Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur
While Rajasthan have registered just one win in four games, KKR are the in-form team, having won three out of four times in IPL 2019. The visiting side have been led by Andre Russell’s ferocious batting, but players like Uthappa, Rana, Lynn, Karthik, and Gill have contributed with vital knocks as well. The RR on the other side have only been laid by Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson with the bat, while Archer and Gopal have been the heroes with the ball.
They have been struggling with their batting in the middle orders, and with KKR having world-class spinners, it could be an area that could hamper Rajasthan. However, they know the conditions at Jaipur well, and with the track expected to be a better, the team that wins the toss would want to chase.
KKR are in all probability going to go in unchanged, while Rajasthan might bring back Samson if he is fit.
RR Predicted 11
Ajinkya Rahane, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson/Binny, Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, Rahul Tripathi, Krishnappa Gowtham, Jofra Archer, Dhawal Kulkarni, Shreyas Gopal, Varun Aaron
KKR Predicted 11
Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana, Robin Uthappa, Dinesh Karthik, Shubman Gill, Andre Russell, Piyush Chawla, Lockie Ferguson, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna
I have picked Buttler over Karthik as he bats higher up the order, which increases chances of him getting a big knock. Also, Buttler is in fine form and could make merry against a relatively inexperienced new-ball attack.
Uthappa and Rana have been the most underrated players from KKR since last year. After the fall of early wickets, they come together in the middle overs and help stitch together an important knock, which then helps the likes of Russell to flourish. Rahane will be eager to lead from the front, while Steven Smith has not yet flourished as he would have expected to. With David Warner – the other player who missed the IPL last year – in good nick, the Aussie would be eager to score some runs and get some momentum going.

Sunil Narine can fetch points with his batting, which is why he brushes aside Ben Stokes. The English player comes way down the order and might not get a chance to score a big knock. He has been expensive as well, and in the death, a player like Russell could take him apart. Russell’s presence in the team is a no-brainer, while Gowtham is my third all-rounder.
Piyush Chawla can be the key bowler for KKR, as they face a line-up that is struggling in the batting department. Once the top three players from RR are dismissed, it gives way to inexperience, which is what Chawla would want to take advantage of. Shreyas Gopal has taken six wickets in the IPL thus far and has bowled with an economy rate of under 6, while Archer is experienced and could make a difference.
