IPL 2018 | Match 33 | KKR vs CSK: Chennai Super Kings are to embark on the 33rd IPL match of this season to play against the Kolkata Knight Riders tonight at Eden Gardens, Kolkata at 20:00 IST.
CSK, led by the very capable MS Dhoni, is leading the table with 12 points in their pocket – 6 wins out of 8 games. KKR themselves have had a boost of confidence with their win against the Royal Challengers’ Bangalore and would look to continue their good form. Both teams had to redeem themselves after their respective losses against Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils.
In CSK, Dhoni is definitely the talk of the season with his loyal fan base and his performance in the last few matches. Nothing less than half-centuries, he has led his team to victory more than once this season. Shane Watson has also proved to be a formidable enemy with his all-rounder skillset. He may not have had a great season last year but he has definitely made up for his performance this time around. It was Ambati Rayudu’s time to shine in their last match against the Delhi Daredevils, partnered with the captain himself to score a whopping 41 runs. Dwayne Bravo started the season with a bang but has now taken a back-seat, allowing his capable teammates to take over while he rests to hopefully make a comeback when they need him the most.
Fast bowler newbies, Lungi Ngidi and KM Asif, had great debuts and would be expected to continue with the same spirit.
KKR, led by Dinesh Karthik, cannot afford a loss as it would risk their position on the table. Standing fourth with eight points, they can lose the opportunity to participate in the playoffs if they slip. Chris Lynn, Andre Russel, and Sunil Narine have been the backbone of their victories and would continue being so. Robin Uthappa has also had a very good season but hasn’t been able to reach the milestone of a half-century as of yet. Shubman Gill, who has proved himself, again and again, has still not been allowed to unlock his potential on the field as he is pushed lower down the ranks.
Two teams very likely to be locked in for the playoffs will be playing tonight, led by two determined and capable captains – this will be one nail-biting match to watch so be sure to tune in.
