IPL Match 35, Post-Match Analysis: Dhoni wins the game for the Chennai boys once again1 min read

CSK VS RCB

IPL 2018 | Match 35 | CSK vs RCB: Chennai Super Kings have defeated the Royal Challengers’ Bangalore once again yesterday at the Pune grounds. However, it was not an easy defeat as the Virat Kohli led-side did their absolute best to contain them.

CSK won the toss and chose to field, choosing to chase as has always been their strength. Parthiv Patel and Brendon McCullen opened for RCB with McCullen losing his footing too soon. Jadeja finally made a contribution to his team as he took Kohli’s wicket. AB de Villiers’ comeback did not go well as he was dismissed very quickly. Parthiv Patel remained rooted as all the big names kept coming in and leaving the field. He scored his eleventh IPL fifty and left soon after as well. It was not a good day for the RCB batsmen as the innings was soon left in the hands of bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Tim Southee who barely managed a forty-run partnership. They ended the innings with an embarrassing score of 127 for nine, allowing CSK fans to already accept their forthcoming victory.

Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja took over the bowling front for CSK and took out the RCB batsmen like dominoes.

RCB must be appreciated for their efforts in attempting to restrict the Chennai batsmen. The improvement in their bowling was remarkable and it almost seemed like they could pull it off until Dhoni lost his patience and took over. Umesh Yadav took the two crucial wickets of Shane Watson and Suresh Raina. Tim Southee displayed a brilliant presence of mind as he assured his off-balance catch did not lose them a wicket. Even after the death-over specialists, Dhoni and Bravo came in, the Bangalore boys restricted their movement for over five overs.

It may be too late for RCB now as they lost another much-needed win even with all their efforts. Hopefully, their good performance overpowers the defeat and allows them to do better in the upcoming games. RCB will be playing next against the top-of-the-table Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 7th in Hyderabad while CSK has time to rest as their next game against the Rajasthan Royals is on May 11th in Jaipur.
