IPL Match 36, Post-Match Analysis: SRH steal the first position from CSK once again1 min read

SRH VS DD

IPL 2018 | Match 36 | SRH vs DD: Sunrisers’ Hyderabad remains unstoppable as they place first once again with their victory against the Delhi Daredevils last night. DD faced their first defeat after the appointment of Shreyas Iyer as their captain.

Delhi Daredevils won the toss and chose the less popular choice to bat first. Glenn Maxwell, who has been performing better as a bowler than a batsman, was dismissed early into the game bringing Shreyas Iyer to replace him. Prithvi Shaw played to the expectations placed on him as he contributed 65 runs to the score. His partnership with Iyer brought 80 runs in less than ten overs until he was slain by the Afghan bowler, Rashid Khan – who later won the title of “Man of the Match’. Iyer was dismissed before he could make his fifty, after which the SRH bowlers worked their magic to reduce DD’s flying start to 163 runs for five.

SRH started off with their highest powerplay score (61 for 0) with the help of their openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Alex Hales. Their partnership raised 73 runs for the team until Hales was dismissed before he could seal his brilliant performance with a fifty. He wiped Avesh Khan out with 27 runs from his over. Dhawan also followed soon after. Liam Plunkett and Amit Mishra restricted the Hyderabad boys to 102 runs in 14 overs. Yusuf Pathan and Kane Williamson took the team to victory by the second-last ball.

Another cracking performance from the Sunrisers but the Delhi Daredevils weren’t bad either as they didn’t crack under the pressure of the Hyderabad bowling front and managed a decent score – the highest score SRH has had to chase this season.

DD will face the SRH once again on May 10th for their next game but this time on their home grounds. SRH will remain in Hyderabad as they face the Royal Challengers’ Bangalore on May 7th.
