IPL 2018 | Match 45 | DD vs RCB: Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers guided RCB to victory in a must-win encounter against the Delhi Daredevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Saturday.

Virat Kohli’s men have had a very inconsistent season, languishing at a second-last place with six points from ten games, team RCB had to win all of their remaining four games to have an outside chance of making the playoffs, they sure did start off with the right result.

RCB won the toss and put DD into bat, considering the venue was the Kotla in Captain Kohli’s hometown the choice to chase seemed obvious. Yuzevendra Chahal began proceedings with the ball in hand and removed young Prithvi Shaw with a perfectly setup googly. Chahal went on to remove Jason Roy in the third over to pick up his second, with both openers sent back to the pavilion inside the first six overs DD was in a spot of bother. But Rishabh Pant continued his excellent run of form with a quickfire 61 from 34 balls to maneuver Delhi through the middle overs before 17-year old debutant Abhishek Sharma (45 from 19 balls) toyed with the RCB bowlers to power DD to 181.

RCB didn’t have the best of starts either, losing both openers within the first three overs, Moeen Ali falling prey to Trent Boult and Parthiv Patel found himself plumb LBW off Nepali import Sandeep Lamichhane’s leg spin. Despite finding themselves in an unfavorable position RCB could back themselves to chase down the total as their best players out in the middle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. The Dynamic duo went about their work with absolute class and was a delight to watch, Captain Kohli scored 70 off 40 before being caught behind off an Amit Mishra delivery. AB de Villiers’ unbeaten 72 off 37 ensured RCB ended up on the winning side with an over to spare.

RCB now travel to Indore on the 14th of May to play Kings XI Punjab in a crucial encounter and Delhi who are Playing for nothing but pride travel to Pune to Play CSK on the 18th of May.
