The Delhi Daredevils have been perpetual underperformers, but that’s all in the past now. They’re a revamped side with a brand new name and Identity. The Delhi Capitals.
The new look Delhi Capitals seem to have all bases covered on paper and have accumulated a decent squad. So here’s a look at the whole squad.

So Here’s a look at the whole Delhi Capitals squad. Players with a * symbol were bought this Season.
Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan Harshal Patel, Rahul Tewatia, Manjot Kalra, Colin Munro, Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Sandeep Lamichhane, Trent Boult, Shikhar Dhawan (Traded)*, Colin Ingram*, Axar Patel*, Hanuma Vihari*, Sherfane Rutherford*, Ishant Sharma*, Keemo Paul*, Jalaj Saxena*, Ankush Bains*, Nathu Singh*, Bandaru Ayyappa*.
Indian Batting talent- The Capitals have four-key Indian Batsman that form their top order batting core. Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant, these four Indian Internationals have proven their worth in the IPL time and again. The Capitals paid a huge price to get Dhawan on their team trading three talented Indian players in Vijay Shankar, Abhishek Sharma, and Shahbaz Nadeem. Though Dhawan as a commodity, Batsman and Player may just be worth it. But given Dhawan’s age and the potential Nadeem, Sharma, and Shankar have, it seems more like an emotional decision rather than a rational one.
Premium overseas Fast bowlers- When you think of top fast bowlers in the world, Trent Boult and Kagiso Rabada will probably make everyone’s list. The Delhi Tcamp have both these world beaters on their side and also have Chris Morris and Keemo Paul to help out. Having these fast bowlers hitting the deck hard and swinging the ball from the word go can really help. It isn’t only the foreigners, Ishant Sharma, Nathu Singh, and Avesh Khan are also capable of partnering the overseas pace guns.
Lack of Quality Indian Fast bowlers- Their strength does become their weakness, Foreign Fast bowlers are a good asset to have but if your premium Fast Bowlers are two foreign Internationals it puts a load on your foreign quota. To add to that Delhi’s Indian Bowlers are either too young or past their prime with Avesh Khan and Nathu Singh too young and Ishant Sharma is past his prime and as far as the limited overs format is concerned, he is a ghost.
Losing Mentality- This franchise may have changed their name to Delhi Capitals but the core players and the staff are still the same as that of Delhi Daredevils. Over the past decade, DD have epitomized failure in the IPL and can probably write a book titled ‘What not to do in the IPL’. Ricky Ponting will need to work on the psychological aspect of Delhi’s game and will need to ensure that the team isn’t carrying any baggage from past failures.
Probable Playing XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, Colin Ingram, Rishabh Pant, Hanuma Vihari, Chris Morris, Axar Patel, Amit Mishra, Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada.
