If this Transfer Window has taught us anything, it has to be the Importance of Goalkeepers. When it comes to a World Class Goalkeeper, Jan Oblak is definitely a name that pops up from time to time. The Slovenian is one of the best shot-stoppers in the World and with Spanish Daily AS reporting that Oblak is all set to reject a new contract, The Los Rojiblancos should be concerned. With Clubs paying top dollar for Goalkeepers like Kepa Arizzabalaga and Alisson Becker Atletico Madrid will have to do everything in their power to keep Oblak at the Club.

Oblak has been absolutely brilliant for Atletico and has been decisive in both opening games against Valencia and Rayo Vallecano denying Daniel Wass and Sergio Moreno in the dying moments (respectively). The 25-Year-old has definitely been Atleti’s star performer so far in a team that hasn’t hit their best form yet. Atletico Madrid splashed the cash on some good signings this Summer and have made a strong case for being genuine contenders for the Champions League as well as the La Liga. But with rumors floating around regarding the Slovenian exit, Atletico will have to sort out these issues As soon as possible.

According to AS, he is unhappy with the Club regarding some promises made to him when he extended his contract back in February 2016. The report is a little ambiguous with no details of why Oblak is unhappy. The Slovenian  International signed for Atletico in 2014 for  €16 million from Benfica. Since then he has made 157 appearances for Atleti with 93 clean sheets.

Oblak’s clause in 2016 was increased from €45 million to €100 million and Rumour has it that the new deal offered to him was going to increase his release clause to a whopping €200 million. If Atletico can manage to keep him at the Club, They will gain a lot more than 200 Million euros because he is a priceless asset.
