Juventus make it two wins in two games as they beat Lazio by two goals to nil. Cristiano Ronaldo missed an open goal but it acted as an assist for Mario Mandzukic to fire home Juventus’s second on Saturday. Chasing an eighth successive title, Juventus now have 6 points from two games after a game in which they had a considerable amount of luck. But the Old Lady are still waiting for their star man Cristiano Ronaldo to score his first since his move from Real Madrid in the summer. Miralem Pjanic fired Juventus ahead at the half an hour mark with a shot from outside the box that gave the goalkeeper no chance.

The Turin based side added another in the 75th minute when Joao Cancelo’s low cross was partially cleared by goalkeeper Strakosha but he only managed to play it on to an arriving Cristiano Ronaldo whose right footed shot was stopped by the heel of his left foot but fell kindly for Mario Mandzukic to fire home. The closest Ronaldo came to breaking his duck was with a vicious dipping effort on the turn in the 71st minute, but it was brilliantly turned over the bar by the Albanian goalkeeper. Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who started ahead of new signing Mattia Perin, made two blinding saves in the first half that kept Juventus in front, turning Senad Lulic’s shot around the post and then charging out of his goal to block a dangerous Marco Parolo break.

“Italian football is completely different to in Spain. Ronaldo understands that and he is settling in very well,” said Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri. ” There was a risk of us getting carried away by the enthusiasm created by Ronaldo’s first home appearance,” added the coach, who picked Blaise Matuidi and Federico Bernardeschi ahead of Paulo Dybala and Juan Cuadrado. I have a very strong squad and have to evaluate everyone. We needed these characteristics in midfield today,” he said. “There are times we are too frenetic and other moments when we go to sleep. We have to find a better balance.”
