Cristiano Ronaldo finally scored his first goal in a Juventus shirt since his move from Real Madrid during the summer. The Ronaldo brace means that the Italian Champions continue their unbeaten run with a 2 – 1 victory against a stubborn and gritty Sassuolo side. The first half of the game was rather redundant and boring as both sides didn’t get going by any standards. However, Ronaldo who was goalless after the first three games since his move away from Real Madrid tapped into net Juventus first goal of the game. Ronaldo’s wait ended after his 28th attempt as he looked increasingly frustrated during the first half of the game. Ronaldo’s first effort of the match in the sixth minute was blocked. He then failed to direct a header on goal and in the 27th minute struck an ambitious free-kick wide from 35 yards. But Ronaldo’s first goal couldn’t have been easier as the Portuguese forward, who tapped in from close range after Sassuolo failed to clear a corner as the ball deflected off the post and fell straight to the feet of a waiting Cristiano Ronaldo.

His second goal, however, was more typical of him as he finished off a quick counter-attack by slotting into the corner in the 65th minute. Ronaldo showed excellent pace and composure to finish his side’s counter-attack to perfection, just like he has been doing for the entirety of his career. He could have completed his hat-trick towards the end of the game but the star man missed two easy chances from inside the penalty box. The game, however, ended on a bad note for Juventus as Douglas Costa was sent off after a video assistant referee intervention for spitting at Federico di Francesco, having aimed a headbutt at the same player and appeared to try to elbow him.
