Former Ghana International Kevin-Prince Boateng has completed a 6-month Loan move to Barcelona with a £7.1 Million option to buy.

The 31-year-old midfielder was presented at the Camp Nou yesterday as he completed a short term loan move from Sasuolo with an option to buy in the summer. Boateng who primarily plays as a midfielder can also be deployed as a Striker and reports suggest that Barcelona has got him in as cover for Luis Suarez.

Boateng’s move may come as a shock to few, considering he isn’t a player in his prime and is renowned to move from one Club to another, Kevin-Prince Boateng has now signed for his 12th Club. But from what Coach Ernesto Valverde has said, it seems pretty evident that Barca are looking to capitalize on his experience and versatility, the new signing has already gotten some praise from his Manager.

“He doesn’t seem to need much time to adapt, he knows his stuff and can start playing straight away. He’s comfortable in many positions, as a central striker or playing off another striker, and even deeper too.”

Barcelona is five points clear off of rivals Atletico Madrid and sits comfortably on top of the points table. After Selling backup strikers Paco Alcacer (23 Million to Borussia Dortmund) and Munir El Haddadi (1 Million to Sevilla) Barcelona have done well to acquire the Services of Boateng albeit for a short time. The temporary solution has given Barca time to bring in a younger player in the Summer. Boateng was ecstatic after signing for Barcelona,

“It’s a big dream come true, “It’s a big honor for me to be here.”

The player has trained with his new team ahead of Barca’s Copa del Rey quarter-final clash against Sevilla.

Boateng was at his former Club Sassuolo for only 6-months before moving to Barca. He has also played for Eintracht Frankfurt, AC Milan, Portsmouth, Schalke 04, Tottenham to name a few. Having represented Las Palmas in the 2016-17 Season, Boateng scored 10 Goals for Las Palmas that Season and will be hoping to emulate if not better his performance for the Blaugrana this Season.

It will be interesting to see if Boateng plays a role in the Copa del Rey quarter-final or will he just be a bystander. All said and done, Kevin-Prince Boateng would be enjoying the responsibility of playing for a big European Club of Barcelona’s stature and will be looking forward to rubbing shoulders with the big boys now.
