Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac is out for up to 10 weeks after sustaining an injury to his left knee during Wednesday’s International Champions Cup match against Chelsea in Dublin.

A short announcement on Arsenal‘s official website concerning his health reads: “Sustained an injury to his left knee. Will be out for 8-10 weeks.”

Kolasinac limped off during Arsenal’s pre-season win over Chelsea in Dublin after a clash with Victor Moses. The Bosnia-Herzegovina international hurt his knee and Gunners boss Unai Emery said he would have to undergo a scan. Kolasinac was substituted 20 minutes before the end of the match as the Gunners triumphed on penalties.

The 25-year-old is likely to miss seven to eight Premier League matches, as well as few Europa League matches. Kolasinac is also likely to be absent for the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Arsenal beat Maurizio Sarri‘s Chelsea on Wednesday on penalties after the match ended 1-1 after normal time. Antonio Rudiger gave the Blues the lead early on, but Alexandre Lacazette utilised in Reiss Nelson‘s cross at almost the stoppage time of the game to make it equal. Arsenal claimed victory over Chelsea in midweek after a 6-5 penalty shootout.

Aaron Ramsey had to sit out Wednesday’s match after he developed a tightness in his calf and will strive to return to training next week. The Wales international is now a dilemma for new Arsenal boss Unai Emery’s opening Premier League game facing Manchester City on 12th August.

Unai Emery’s side will complete their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Lazio at the Stockholm’s Friends Arena on 4th August.
