Liverpool 5 – 0 Napoli | Pre Season friendly1 min read

Liverpool 5 - 0 Napoli

Liverpool swept aside Napoli in their pre-season friendly at Dublin yesterday. The reds handed their new number one Alisson a debut against Napoli and he didn’t fail to impress the reds faithful who turned up in numbers to back their team. Liverpool looked to be at their irresistible best during the opening stages of the game in Dublin, scoring two goals in the first ten minutes through James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum. Milner’s goal coming from an attack started by Alisson and Wijnaldum scoring off a header from Milner’s cross. Mo Salah made it three goals to nil with a beautiful curler into the top corner. Sturridge who came on as a substitute yet again made an amazing impact with a goal and an assist for Alberto Moreno who blasted the ball into the Napoli Keeper’s net.

Back in defence, Joe Gomez seems to have cemented his spot alongside Van Dijk. He had a solid outing against Napoli and the young English centre back looks likely to start against the Hammers as the start of the new season inches closer. Alisson behind the defence was extremely solid. He had an aura of calmness about him that Liverpool lacked between the posts for a good number of years now. Last night, he showed every Liverpool fan what their goalkeepers lacked. It is safe to say that Alisson let his feet speak.

Even though all the talk before the game was about Brazilian international Alisson, the trio of Salah, Mane, and Firmino who started together for the first time in pre season showed who the real stars for Liverpool are. Their combination play was so brilliant that it was surprising that not a single one of them was able to get on the scoresheet. They looked to kick off from where they left last season with an added dimension of Keita behind them. And finally, James who played alongside Keita showed everyone just why he is one of the first names on the team sheet. Milner is an absolute tank of a midfielder and will according to me be the first choice midfielder to partner Keita in the start of the Premier League.
