As the new season is fast approaching and the teams are busy with their pre-season preparation, Liverpool FC looks like they have already assembled the squad they would like going into the fresh season. Let’s take a look at how the Red’s could line-up come the new season.

GK: Alisson Becker

The world’s most expensive goalkeeper in the World would look to set the Premier League alight with his amazing goalkeeping. His performances for Roma last season especially in the Champions League is what made him one of the hottest properties in Europe and Liverpool fans will expect him to perform at the same level if not better come the new season.

CB: Virgil Van Dijk

The Netherland’s captain is surely one of the best centre-backs in the world today and he showed that last season when he came in and made Liverpool’s shaky defence look a little better than just good. He has a had a huge impact on the team and his leadership skills will also play a massive role in the clubs fortunes.

CB: Dejan Lovren

The Croatian has had an absolutely fantastic World cup and played a massive role in Croatia’s road to the final. He was inconsistent at times last year but it certainly looked like the arrival of Virgil Van Dijk has done him a world of good. He looked like a completely different player towards the end of last season and it looks like he has taken his game to the next level at the FIFA World Cup. He will look to continue his form into the next season and will know that with a strong defence, Liverpool can be title contenders after many years.

LB: Andy Robertson

Andy has been undoubtedly the find of the season for Liverpool and has proven to be a vital clog for Jurgen Klopp’s defence and will continue to be in the upcoming season. He has proven to be good defensively and attacking and has impressed everyone with his tremendous work rate.

RB: Trent Arnold

The young English fullback has had his breakthrough season last year as he became a starter for Liverpool and also earned his England call-up for the World cup. He has made a huge impact in the Liverpool squad last season and with a fully fit Clyne he will have to continue to improve to keep his place in the team.

CDM: Fabinho

In the form of Fabinho, Klopp has got the much needed defensive cover ahead of his defence. This is an area that Liverpool lacked personnel for a long time and with Fabinho’s arrival, the defensive shape of the team looks settled.

RM: Naby Keita

Naby Keita wears the number 8 shirt at Liverpool. That simple gesture portrays how important he is to the way this Liverpool team will set up. He will play the role of a box to box midfielder and will most likely play the free role. his ability to win the ball back and quickly make an attack will compliment the attacking trio of Salah, Mane, and Firmino beautifully and the Red’s will hope they can take them all the way.

LM: Jordan Henderson/Adam Lallana/Daniel Sturridge

The other midfield role will be a three-way battle between Lallana, Hendo, and Sturridge. A fully fit Lallana at his best will undoubtedly be the first choice but he is yet to find his mojo. Klopp has introduced Sturridge in a new number 10 role and he has done fantastically well during the preseason. If he continues to perform the way he is, his Liverpool career will yet again be rejuvenated. Henderson on the other hand played a more defensive role last season but will play a more attacking role this year with arrival of Fabinho.

LW: Sadio Mane

Mane has just been handed the number 10 shirt at Liverpool and is set to sign a new long-term contract at the club. He is a vital player for Liverpool and will continue to be so for a number of years.

RW: Mohammed Salah

The Egyptian King will look to emulate his performances yet again and will look to seal his spot among the European elite. He is Liverpool’s most important player and with him in full flow, the red’s seem near unstoppable.

ST: Roberto Firmino

Bobby as the Liverpool faithful call him has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League. His ability to track back and help defensively along with mustering the goals sets him apart from the other strikers in the league. Firmino will yet again look to set the league alight with his Brazilian flair.
