Real Betis have completed the signing of Argentina international Giovani Lo Celso from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain on a season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent.

A statement on the club’s official website read: “Real Betis Balompié has added footballer Giovani Lo Celso, from Paris Saint-Germain. The player arrives on loan with the purchase option to the Thirteen Bar Club.”

Argentinian midfielder Giovani Lo Celso began his career in the lower ranks of CA Rosario Central. Due to his projection and performance, he was signed by French side Paris Saint-Germain in 2016. With the French club, Lo Celso has won a Ligue 1, 2 French Cups, 2 French League Cups and 2 French Super Cups.

In the international stage, he has earned 5 caps with the Argentinian national team. In addition, he played the Olympic Games of Rio 2016 with the Olympic team of his country, playing 3 games.

With his inclusion, Real Betis aim to acquire more capacity for work, creativity, and good performance.

After signing his contract, Lo Celso said: “I’m really happy to be in a club with a great history. I want to give on the pitch what I’ve received. My arrival coincides with the derby and we all know how it is here. Hopefully, it will finish in the best possible way. One of the things that made me come was the Club’s project. Any player would get motivated by the sports project this club has, it’s exciting. That’s the reason I’m here.”

“I’m eager for the beginning. We had the draw today. It’s important for the club to be there, so let’s hope everything works out our way. You always have individual targets but, above everything else, team targets. I want to play my part and be at the gaffer’s disposal and meet my teammates. We all know how people live football here, very passionate. It’s important for a player to have fans like this. That’s motivating. I can’t wait to step on the pitch.”

Giovani Lo Celso becomes the 7th signing for the Spanish club this season.
