Luke Shaw arrived at Manchester today for further assessment after suffering an injury scare in the 1-2 loss against Spain. Shaw collided with Real Madrid Full-Back Dani Carvajal during the second-half and considering Shaw has been unlucky with injuries in recent times there were a few concerned faces around. Following the injury, England Manager Gareth Southgate said that the Full-back would have to follow concussion protocols and be inactive for seven days, but he added that “he should be back in the fold as soon as that’s done.”
Shaw had to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher after colliding with Carvajal. Followed by which, he was treated by ten medical Personnel on the pitch for over six minutes and had to be provided with oxygen. The former Southampton man will miss England’s friendly against Switzerland on Tuesday night and will have to sit out United’s Premier League Fixture against Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.
Shaw has had an impressive start to the Season, and the Englishman is looking like his former self. Shaw was absolutely sensational at Southampton 4 years back that urged Manchester United to fork out 30 Million Pounds for him, a record deal for a teenager at the time. United fans will be hoping that a seven-day recovery period doesn’t halt the Full-back’s progress.
Shaw’s United teammate Juan Mata has written a very supportive message for England International and wants to give Shaw a “Big Hug”. The Spaniard wrote on his blog “The worst news from the match was Luke Shaw’s collision, which forced him off the field due to injury As you’re all aware, he has been in really good form over the last few weeks. I hope that it won’t be anything serious and that he can be back fit as soon as possible. I’m sending you a big hug and my best wishes, Luke.”
