Manchester United were held to a 1 – 1 Draw at Old Trafford against an impressive Wolves side that are building a solid reputation for themselves. Manchester United summer signing Fred found the net for the Red Devils while for the visitors it was their new Portuguese Midfield recruit Joao Moutinho who equalized. At the end of the 90 Minutes, both teams had to settle for a point in what was an entertaining draw with Wolves definitely getting a more positive result than United.

Wolves started the game very well with Raul Jimenez, Willy Bolly, and Ryan Bennett getting genuine chances to score only to be denied by David De Gea. The Spaniard bailed out United, as he so often does with a string of brilliant saves to ensure his outfield teammates were always in the game. 18 minutes in and Paul Pogba found Fred with a brilliantly controlled and weighted pass, the Brazilian drove the shot into the net with some fizz to score his first Goal in a United Jersey.
Joao Moutinho scored a well-deserved equalizer for Wolves with a slick finish. Raul Jiminez held the ball up well and teed up Moutinho who like Fred, scored his first Premier League Goal. The Finish was exquisite, into the top corner and hit with some real venom to ensure that even David De Gea couldn’t get to the ball. Nuno Esposito’s Wolves were playing genuinely well and deserved the Goal to level things up.
Former United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson was in the stands and it was ironically a performance completely opposite to what United played during his reign. Though United created a flurry of chances in “Fergie Time”, their overall game was still very defensive, a criticism Mourinho’s teams have often had to hear. United’s talismanic Midfielder Paul Pogba even went on the record to say “When we are at home we should attack, attack, attack.” he went on to slyly add “but I cannot say that because I’m a player,” certainly a dig at Manager Jose Mourinho. It’s a shame to see that after such an impressive performance against BSC Young Boys, United followed up with an underwhelming display at home.
