United lackluster in Europe as well

Manchester United put in another abysmal and sluggish performance in a Goalless draw against La Liga Club, Valencia at Old Trafford. The Red Devils failed to register a win for a fourth consecutive game, things aren’t going Jose Mourinho’s way especially considering United were incompetent in a 3-1 loss against West Ham at the Weekend as well. Not only Manchester United but even Valencia put in a lifeless display only registering one shot on target while United registered 4 shots on goal. The Lack of attacking prowess was clearly evident, not to undermine the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez or even Michy Batshuayi and Rodrigo. None of the forwards in the day seemed to have any hunger.

Alexis Sanchez returned to the Lineup after being dropped for the West Ham game and aside from a skillful back-heel pass in Midfield the Chile International couldn’t produce anything special. It’s hard to believe that Sanchez is the same player who would knock goals in for fun during his time at Arsenal and the £350,000 United are paying him now seems like an inflated valuation of the 29-Year-old.

Kick-Off was delayed due to some local traffic issues but as soon as the game started Manchester United showed far more intent and urgency than they did against West Ham over the weekend. But soon Jose Mourinho’s side started slacking off and gave the same lackluster performance as they’ve been giving week in and week out. Marcus Rashford was probably United’s best offensive threat, the Teenager played on the left flank and tried to beat Valencia Keeper Neto from Long range, but aside from that, it was an eventless first half.

United’s best chance came with a Free-Kick won by Anthony Martial. Marcus Rashford hit the free-kick with some Venom only to find the post while Romelu Lukaku failed to convert the Ricochet from close range even though he was unmarked. While for Valencia, Chelsea Loanee Michy Batshuayi overhit a volley from a Francis Coquelin cross to summarise a difficult night for attackers.

End of the road for Mourinho?

Manchester United have released a statement time and again saying that they 100% back Jose Mourinho. But certainly, doubts would be creeping over Ed Woodward and the United Management over Mourinho’s effectiveness as United’s boss. Some pundits may say they expected the slack off considering Mourinho hasn’t been able to keep a job at any Club after the third Season. People are even pointing out that maybe Mourinho wants to get sacked in order to receive a hefty payout clause and is continuously criticizing his players in order to be taken out of his misery. Whatever the Reason it may be, United need to sort it out as soon as possible or it may just be too late to salvage anything out of this Season.
