After a disappointing spell in the transfer window, Manchester United are all set to play their first game in the league with a similar squad. The addition of Fred might come in handy for the Red Devils.
The Red Devils were in the market for a host of centre-backs, which included Leicester City’s, Harry Maguire. Ahead of the encounter against Manchester United, Claude Puel made a futile attempt at cracking a joke regarding Maguire at Old Trafford.
It would now be interesting to see what the playing XI would be for both the sides. Romelu Lukaku’s World Cup was a longer one alongside English’s presence in the World Cup. However, Lukaku was absent from the friendly against the German giants Bayern Munich.
Could that mean that English striker Marcus Rashford could make a start in the opener against Leicester City or would Lukaku get a go despite not making it to the friendly game? Alongside Lukaku, would be Alexis Sanchez, who’s nation did not make it to the World Cup.

Mata’s performance in the friendlies might just give a starting berth to the midfielder. However, if Rashford and Lukaku are fit and raring to go, the Spaniard will spend his time on the bench. Fred is likely to make his debut for the Red Devils alongside Ander Herrera.
The centre-back pairing of Chris Smalling and Bailly with Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw on either side. David de Gea will make a start for the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
For Leicester City, Iheanacho will make his debut in the middle of the attack alongside Albrighton, Maddison, and Diabate. Iborra and Ndidi in the midfield for the Foxes.
At the defence, for Claude Puel’s side would feature the English international Harry Maguire alongside skipper Wes Morgan. On either of the two sides would be Pereira and Chilwell.
However, much to the surprise, Puel might just use Jamie Vardy in the playing XI for the opening encounter against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
With a heavy International line-up on either of the two sides, the match will go right down the wire, with the Red Devils coming out as winners with the scoreline at 1-0 or 2-1.
