Chelsea goes up against Newcastle United at the St. James’ Park on Sunday. The Blues’ and the toons will be playing only their third game of the Season, and both teams would be looking to come out on top. Chelsea are slowly finding their feet under new Manager Maurizio Sarri after an impressive 3-0 win against Huddersfield followed by a close 3-2 victory against arch-rivals Arsenal. Newcastle, on the other hand, have had a slow start to their Season losing 1-2 against Spurs on Matchday 1 and picked up a point in last week’s 0-0 draw against Cardiff City.

Team News

Newcastle United- Rafa Benitez’s team will be without the suspended Isaac Hayden, who was shown a Red Card against Cardiff City in a Goalless Draw. Defender Kenedy’s performance in recent games has been unimpressive, but the Brazilian is as it is ineligible from playing against his parent Club Chelsea. Florian Lejeune remains a long-term absentee with a Ligament Injury while DeAndre Yedlin is back in contention after recovering from a knee injury.

Predicted XI: Dubravka, Yedlin, Lascelles, Clark, Dummett, Richie, Shelvey, Diame, Muto, Perez, Rondon

Chelsea- Chelsea Talisman, Eden Hazard has made only two appearances for Chelsea from the bench but has still managed to register two assists. Maurizio Sarri has hinted that Hazard could make the starting XI at St. James’ Park. Cesc Fabregas is still in doubt, the Spaniard is still recovering from a knee injury sustained in Pre-Season and the Spaniard may not attain fitness in time for the game. Apart from Fabregas, Maurizio Sarri has a fully fit squad to choose from.

Predicted XI:  Kepa, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso, Kante, Jorginho, Barkley, Pedro, Morata, Hazard

Key Players

Chelsea- Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard scored his first Goal for Chelsea against Newcastle and Starting the game against them 6 years later seems a little poetic. Hazard will be looking to find the back of the net today and hopefully the Belgian flourishes Under Maurizio Sarri’s attacking style of play.

Newcastle United- Joselu

Newcastle have a serious lack of goals but someone like Joselu has shown some serious character and spirit. The Spaniard has some good skill and the Forward will be hoping to inspire Newcastle and start with a draw or a win against Chelsea.

Prediction: Newcastle 0-2 Chelsea.

The Blues have too much quality to lose this game and with Alvaro Moata’s Goal drought seemingly coming to an end against Arsenal, the Blues seem even more dangerous now. Morata should find his name on the scoresheet and I’m going with Ross Barkley to find the back of the net as well.
