Ole Gunnar Solskjaer | The hero Manchester United desperately needed

Manchester United have been a breath of fresh air under caretaker Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the manager has had a 100% record in 8 straight games.

Following an extremely impressive performance last night against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Manchester United ripped Arsenal apart in a dominant 3-1 victory to advance to the FA Cup 5th round. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has really made an impact and has exceeded all expectations to give United fans a new vein of hope.

Solskjaer has really turned things around at Manchester United, 8 wins on the trot since his appointment and United fans and the players couldn’t be happier. A lot of fans and pundits were connecting Solskjaer’s success at the Club to the relatively simple fixtures that United had to face Cardiff City, Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Newcastle and Reading as opponents when Solskjaer started out. In all honesty, these are relatively easy fixtures and didn’t test United as much but at the same time, Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United may have succumbed to any of the above-mentioned teams.

Mourinho had brought so much negativity and unpredictability to the Club that had affected the whole aura of Manchester United. Mourinho had basically turned into a whining child who couldn’t get results himself so he blamed it on everyone around him. Ever since Solskjaer has been appointed everything Mourinho was unable to achieve suddenly seemed possible. Paul Pogba was being criticized by not only Jose but by everyone for being an ineffective player who isn’t even trying to play well for his team, ever since Solskjaer has arrived Pogba has looked rejuvenated and determined, scoring 5 goals in six appearances under his new manager.

But the one significant change Solskjaer’s United team has to be their approach to games. He has successfully bought the “Manchester United way of Football” back to the forefront and whether you’re a Manchester United fan or not, you will appreciate this welcome return. United under Sir Alex Ferguson were renowned for their attractive and never say die style of Football that truly made them the biggest Club in England. We are seeing glimpses of that approach over the last few weeks and their performances against Tottenham Hotspur and now Arsenal have proved that United can perform against the top 6 sides while retaining their attractive style of Football.

The whole team seems to have gotten a lift of some sorts, a surge of determination that is taking them places. United’s next big test would be against PSG on the 13th of February in UEFA Champions League Round of 16. If United can pull off a result against the Parisians Solskjaer would deserve all the praise in the world for turning things around at a CLub embroiled in turmoil.
