Chelsea put in a dominant performance in Greece as the Blues kicked off their Europa League campaign with a 1-0 Win against PAOK. Maurizio Sarri’s men could’ve and should’ve won with a greater margin, only if the attacking trio of Alvaro Morata, Pedro and Willian would’ve taken all their chances, Chelsea could’ve been four maybe five Goals up. Nevertheless, The Blues pulled off yet another thoroughly professional and dominant performance under Maurizio Sarri. But in the end, it was Stand-in Captain, Willian’s solitary Goal that took the Blues to Victory.

Chelsea set the momentum early on, despite regulars David Luiz, Cesar Azpilicueta, Eden Hazard, and Mateo Kovacic not in the Line-up, the visitors looked like their usual self. Dominating possession in the opening minutes that led to Willian receiving a perfectly weighted pass from Ross Barkley, the Brazilian slotted a low shot past PAOK Keeper Alexandros Paschalakis to give Chelsea the lead in the seventh minute.

A few minutes later Alvaro Morata should’ve headed home from six yards but the Spaniard failed to find the back of the net. Morata was the most disappointing of the Chelsea players, the Former Real Madrid striker missed a host of opportunities that could’ve given the Spaniard some much-needed confidence. Morata’s only Goal for Chelsea this Season came against Arsenal and the Spanish forward seems to have no intent or drive to become Chelsea’s number one. We know he’s a talented striker but with Olivier Giroud clearly Chelsea’s number one right now, how long before Maurizio Sarri’s patience runs out with Morata?

Pedro Injury Scare

Pedro was fouled by midfielder Omar El Kaddouri in the dying seconds of the game and picked up a shoulder injury. Maurizio Sarri went on to play down the Spanish winger’s Injury scare but also mentioned he doesn’t know the Situation entirely.“I don’t know exactly the situation. I spoke for a few seconds(To Pedro), but that probably it is not a serious injury.”
