Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) continued their season’s 100% win record with a 4 – 1 home victory over Stade de Reims in Ligue 1 on Wednesday.

Mid-table side Stade de Reims startled the home fans in Paris when Xavier Chavalerin scored with a left-footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner in the 2nd minute. However, their lead didn’t last long as Edinson Cavani equalized just 3 minutes later, superbly beating keeper Edouard Mendy.

In the 24th minute, Neymar converted a penalty after Ghislain Konan fouled Cavani inside the box. Edinson Cavani then scored his second of the day after a shot from a difficult angle on the left to the centre of the goal following a set piece situation in the 44th minute.

Belgian fullback, Thomas Meunier, in the 55th minute, bagged the 4th goal of the match after a shot from very close range to the find the net with ease.

Although Reims did create a number of opportunities, PSG, with more than 70% possession, were constantly in control. Just as the match came to an end, Cavani missed a great chance for a hat-trick when he hit the bar in the last minute.

Brazil international Neymar has been involved in 6 goals in just five league matches, scoring 4 and assisting 2.

Les Parisiens also extended their Ligue 1 winning streak to seven which sees them sit, 8 points clear off second-placed Lyon, at the top of the table already this season. The defending champions beat Reims to become only the 4th French side to win the first seven games of the Ligue 1 season after Olympique Lillois, Lille and Monaco.

Thomas Tuchel‘s side faced their only defeat of the season against Liverpool at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League earlier this month.

Paris Saint-Germain visits Nice on Saturday, 29th September for their next Ligue 1 fixture.
