Leeds United have announced the signing of striker Patrick Bamford from their Championship rivals Middlesbrough.

The 24-year-old has signed a 4-year deal at the club, running until the summer of 2022. 

Leeds United become the 9th club of Bamford’s career till now largely due to a series of loan moves while the striker was at Stamford Bridge.

Patrick Bamford began his career at Nottingham Forest, before being taken up by Chelsea in 2011. The young forward had met several brief loans away from his then parent club and thrived during a season-long loan at Middlesbrough during the 2014/15 season, where he scored 17 goals in the Sky Bet Championship which helped them reach the Play-Off Final. That year he was selected as the league’s Player of the Year.

Bamford later had loans in the Premier League with Crystal Palace, Norwich City, and Burnley, before re-joining Middlesbrough on a permanent deal in January 2017. Last season Bamford made a total of 44 appearances for his club and scored a hat-trick the last time he faced Leeds United at the Riverside Stadium in March. It was a part of a prolific period where he scored 9 goals in 7 games.

Patrick Bamford has also been a part of  England Youth Team at Under-18, Under-19, and Under-21 level. However, he is yet to make a senior appearance for the senior team.

The 24-year-old striker was given the number 9 shirt at his new club and he is set to make his Leeds United debut in Sky Bet Championship opener against Stoke City.

Patrick Bamford becomes is the club’s 5th summer signing after Jamal Blackman and Lewis Baker on loan from ChelseaBarry Douglas from Wolves and Jack Harrison from Manchester City. Leeds United have built quite a remarkable team.
