Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant raise in their Test Rankings

Prithvi Shaw and Indian Wicket Keeper Batsman Rishabh Pant got their rewards for a spectacular performance in the Test series against Windies.


Indian captain Virat Kohli has been the number one Test batsman in the ICC’s latest world ranking, while Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant have made a long jump in the rankings released after the series against West Indies.

Shaw had a memorable debut series. He has reached the 60th spot, up 13 places at the end of playing two innings of 70 and 33 not out in Hyderabad. Prithvi made a century in his debut match and entered the 73rd position in the ranking.

Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has jumped 23 places and he has reached number 62. 

Pant was at number 111 at the beginning of the series. He also scored 92 runs in the first match in Rajkot. Ajinkya Rahane has also moved up four places to be 18th on an innings of 80 runs.

Among the bowlers, Umesh Yadav has gained four places and he has reached in the 25th of the bowling rankings. Umesh was the only third bowler to take 10 wickets in the match at the Indian field, which has also improved his ranking.

Captain Jason Holder has made good progress in all the departments from the West Indies. By taking 5 wickets in 56 balls in India’s first innings, he has moved up four places to ninth position in the bowling rankings, which is his career’s best ranking. In batting, he has managed to reach 53rd ranking. Holder also a half-century to his name. In West Indies first innings at Hyderabad.

In the list of all-rounders, the Holder has moved to third place. That was in the place of Vernon Philander of South Africa.

Roston Chase, who scored a century in the first innings from the West Indies, went up by ten places to 31st, while the ink has reached five places in 35th position.

India won the test series 2 – 0 yesterday. Due to that West Indies lost one point. But there is no change in the team rankings.
