Rajasthan Royals VS Mumbai Indians

IPL 2018 | Match 21 | RR vs MI: Two-time champions Mumbai Indians were off to a sad start this season, racked with three successive reverses until Rohit Sharma managed to come to the teams rescue with a fantastic score of 94 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. RR has lost their last two games convincingly, to Chennai Super Kings by 64 runs in Pune on Friday and by seven wickets in Jaipur two days before that. That summons both teams to the Sawai Mansingh Stadium for on Sunday, April 22nd, 2018.

Sharma was the reason behind the team breaking their losing streak and he is again going to be the main role for Mumbai Indians. West Indian Evin Lewis played his part exceptionally, scoring 65, and then there are Kieron Pollard and the Pandya brothers – Hardik and Krunal.

Another positive development is Hardik’s 5-ball 17 the other night. MI’s bowlers too are feeling quite confident after withstanding Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Led by Jasprit Bumrah, the Mumbai Indians bowling attack looks good with assets like MJ McClenaghan, Hardik, Mustafizur Rahman, M Markande and Krunal.

Mumbai Indians are currently placed sixth with two points, having lost three of their four matches, but the situation is not new for them as they have had dramatic turnabouts at the last minute in the past.

On the other hand, Jaipur has been Rajasthan’s fortress of winnings, where they have won 25 of the 34 games they have played here. For two seasons, 2008 and 2013, they enjoyed unbeaten runs here, winning seven and eight games respectively. They were seriously demoralized by Shane Watson’s belligerent century last night and they have very little time to recover from the massive defeat against Chennai Super Kings.

Captain Ajinkya Rahane will need to lead by example and instill confidence in his players, besides making optimum use of his inadequate resources. Sanju Samson lit up the campaign with his 94 in one of the games, but the rest need to deliver better and be in form. In terms of bowling, seamer Jaidev Unadkat has been quite ordinary so far, he might have to pull up his game in order to score better runs. In addition, the home team is missing its mentor, the legendary Shane Warne, who has gone back to Australia to fulfill some commitments. Will his absence impact their gameplay or not, we will have to watch to find out.

Two teams who have faced losses, going up against each other will surely prove to be an interesting match. Will MI continue their win or will RR make a comeback after their brutal defeat against CSK?
