Chelsea have effectively made only one signing this Season, Considering Rob Green is a third Choice Goalkeeper. Now with the transfer window closing on the 10th of August, Chelsea have been handed a chance to offload Thibaut Courtois and Willian for a combined 100 Million Pounds.

Thibaut Courtois has been linked with a move to Madrid for quite some time now and has even reportedly finalised personal terms to join the Los Blancos. The Belgian has only 12 months left on his current contract but Chelsea will not let the Belgian go till they secure his replacement. Willian had an impressive World Cup campaign with Brazil and the performance has seen his stock rise. Chelsea have already rejected a 60 Million Pound bid for the 29-year-old from Barcelona but should really consider the revised deal from Real Madrid.
Here’s why Chelsea should consider the Deal.
Thibaut Courtois is adamant on leaving the Club and Chelsea were initially going to receive a meagre 30 Million Pounds for the Belgian. Courtois is a World Class shot-stopper and replacing him will not be easy but selling him in January for virtually nothing will do Chelsea no good. Willian turns 30 in a week’s time and 70 Million Pounds for a player entering his 30’s is a pretty good deal.
Chelsea can invest the 100 Million pounds on more suitable replacements. The money will give Chelsea the financial might to sign transfer target Cristian Pulisic and also invest in a good young Goalkeeper.
Then why aren’t the Blues finalising the deal?
Just got one word for you. Time. With the Transfer Window shutting in ten days Chelsea will have to rush to sign replacements. Whereas Real Madrid have until August 31st to finalise deals for Willian and Courtois. (The Spanish Transfer window shuts on the 31st).
The deal is certainly a good one but the Blues will have to be quick or else it would just be an opportunity lost.
